Why Not?  Weightlifting

strength is a skill.  Are you training it?

Do you ever feel like the time you spending at the gym is just that, spending time?  And time doing what?  Trying to get swole?  Trying to get lean?

Then what?

Why not try weightlifting?

Learn the original strength sport, weightlifting.  Develop speed, power and athleticism with the foundational barbell movements.
Weightlifting is a barbell sport that involves just two lifts, the snatch and clean & jerk.  These two lifts are also foundational elements of Crossfit and specific development of the lifts will improve overall performance, strength and fitness.

As an alternative to more common types of "working out" seen in most gyms, weightlifting is something worth trying.  By focusing on movement quality and overall strength, results are easy to achieve, this is a better option than focusing on the numbers on the scale.  When you can focus on this things that that you can do, you will begin to appreciate your body for what it does over how it looks. Training for movement quality and strength also improves life outside of the gym by making everyday tasks easier.  Easy to learn, the lifts are fun and challenging for all ages, youth as young as 7, and masters into their 70's.

Weightlifting is also a sport with competitions held at all levels, from small scale local meets to large scale national and international competitions.  Lifting competitions are a great way to test skills in a challenging atmosphere.  Lifting meets are also a fun way to meet new people and make like minded friends.  Many of the same lifters will be at the same meets again and again.

Why Not? Weightlifting offers programming for the beginner who is just learning the lifts as well as tailored programs for improved technique and strength development for those who have a basic knowledge of the lifts and are seeking improvement.  Even those who currently use the lifts as part of their training can benefit from a little time spent working on refining technique and improvement movement quality.
